This photo was sent to me many months ago by a relative of a very successful M-H dealership in North Yorkshire England.
Somehow it got lost in my piles over the last few months, whilst having a clean up last night it re-appeared and thought it was time to share it on here.
Their old lorry made regular journeys from Yorkshire to the M-H warehouse in Manchester, this particular day the load was a brand new unstyled green Pacemaker, complete with road bands on the rear wheel lugs and sheet covering the engine, bonnet (hood) and radiator, we presume already spoken for by a customer in their local area.
It is unclear what actually happened to cause this accident on a small Yorkshire Road not far from home, but both lorry and new tractor was extensively damaged. Possible thoughts are the steering gave way on the lorry front axle as it appears no other vehicle was involved.
After the clean up on the road everything was recovered to their yard, the tractor soon found it's way into the workshop with all damaged parts removed and replaced, eventually the tractor was sold onto another waiting customer.
I wonder if they knew the previous fate of their "brand new tractor"???
Although lots of un answered questions from that time it is a very clear period photograph.
Malcolm.
