local tractor drive

So on this rather beautiful October day, I took part in my first tractor drive and this particular one was for Operation Comfort Warriors (OCW) and is put on by the American Legion. I did not know about OCW until a few days ago when I found about the drive. Anyway long story short, all the money (and I do mean all) that is donated by the people who take part in the drive goes to help support injured or ill veterans. The drive was originally scheduled for Saturday the 26th, but because it rained that day, it was moved to today. Ended up having only 8 tractors show up because they moved it today (and to a later start time) and I was once again the only one representing Massey Harris. I did get quite a few comments about it and even (not trying to brag I promise) won the "most unique tractor" award. Couple of photos attached and you'll have to excuse the blasphemy in the first one, haha.

RE:local tractor drive

Congratulations and well done Dakota for flying the "Massey Flag" and helping to raise money for the injured.

It is encouraging to see the vintage tractor movement around the world continues to raise money from "road runs and shows" to help Charities and those less fortunate than ourselves.

Well Done Dakota,

Malcolm.

RE:local tractor drive

Thank you Malcolm and Larry. It made me proud that I was able represent Massey Harris. And yes the repairs we did to it all worked like they should! I think I might have to tweak the carburetor a little bit, but other than that she ran great!

RE:local tractor drive

Did you get ur belt pulley on???

RE:local tractor drive

No sir not yet. The drive needs bearings as they sound pretty dry, just havent had the chance to get them replaced yet.

RE:local tractor drive

Back in June here are some Massey Collectors enjoying themselves on a "tractor drive" in Oklahoma and Texas.
Not very local to me but a great experience to participate in what we would called  a "road run" over 3,500 miles from home.

I expect you will recognise some of the familiar faces.

Malcolm.

I think I recognize some of the faces in the pictures, haha. Looks like it was a lot of fun. Did you guys start in Texas or end in Texas?

RE:local tractor drive

Dakota,

The drive was organised by Jim Esbenshade of Achille Oklahoma, so it started and finished on his farm. As the route progressed we crossed the State Line into Texas and then came back across the large Dennison Dam.

The tractor drive was held the previous day to his annual "Golden Harvest Day" event with many machines at work in the fields, it was a great show and experience for me to see the vast collection.

Here are a few more photo's taken at the half way rest stop on the tractor drive.

RE:local tractor drive

I was able to participate in the Jim Esbenshade tractor drive in 2017.  I drove that same MF 150 NF gasser that you see in Malcolm's photos.  It was a really hot day in 2017!  Here are some photos I took during that drive.

I believe 2020 is going to be the big Massey feature at Jim's Golden Harvest Days show.  He has been working on his Massey Museum, and hopefully it will be completed in time for the 2020 show.

Cheers,

JB
