RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Great to see your latest cast iron finds from this years trip John, your "cast iron shed" will soon need an extension!!!

The home of Massey in Ontario is certainly the place to find an abundence of interesting pieces of mechanical history still surviving, even though many local people today have no idea what Massey Harris was.

Here is another bunch of memorabilia (not cast iron), whilst in Brantford this summer we managed to salvage some bricks for our collections from the old Harris Works in Brantford, they display well with other bricks in our collections from the Newcastle and Manchester factories.

Here are the Brantford ones and interesting to note Hamilton in the red one, expect that is where they were made.

Malcolm.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

I have recently found this M-H steering wheel, can anyone identify what it is from?

I think that it is probably off a British built MH 726 combine.  Had one just like it in my hands for hundreds of hours!

Have just checked in the parts price list of 1948 and it is a hand wheel for a reaper thresher - so I wasn't too far out

A pair of Ferguson cultivator points inscribed with HF.  N American origin as ours were never stamped HF.  I bought them off a gent advertising them in the FENA magazine (Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America who have a goodmagazine - bi monthly if I recall)

Found this M-H seed drill box end in SK recently.  I have never seen this type before.  Anyone know what implement this has come off?

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

It's often the small and unusual items which gives me great Massey enthusiasm these days.
With over 26 years of traveling the world seeing all things Massey related I have seen the majority of the tractors and implements they made, its always rewarding now when we come across something we have not seen before either at Expo's, shows or in private collections and this year in Holland here are two examples of tool box lids which I have not seen.

The first is the M-J-H from a hay kicker, with the Johnston Harvester connection and the second one at first glance seems just a normal M-H tin toolbox lid, but taking a more detailed look the width of the pressed letters is much wider with a flat top profile, rather than the often seen usual rounded letter profile.
