Just another voice from one who has had very positive experience with PayPal over many years. Just about all of my experience with PayPal is on eBay transactions. I have not used it for anything else.
I had a recent experience where somebody managed to hack my account, and make a purchase for $499.99. Since I don't use it frequently, don't know how long it would have been before I caught that. However, PayPal sent me an immediate email notification of suspicious activity in my account due to a purchase "not in line with my normal usage", and froze the account so that further fraudulent actions could not be taken. Even though the fraudulent user had made a purchase from a legitimate company, PayPal refunded me the entire amount, painlessly, with no further questions asked. I was impressed by that. Of course I immediately changed my password, to both PayPal and eBay, and have continued to use without problem.
And to the first Jerry, I would not say your input has "fallen on deaf ears". But it's sorta like looking at a seller rating on eBay. If a seller has a 99.7% positive feedback rating, you are probably going to feel comfortable buying from him. It isn't 100%, but that 0.3% who had a problem probably aren't going to scare you away vs. the 99.7%. The overwhelming feedback (not all of it on this site) for using PayPal has been positive.
