What did you do with yours today...?

How about sharing with everyone what you've done with your Massey (or anything related) today...?

I've done 2 things....

Firstly refitted the newly rebuilt carburettor on my un-styled Pacemaker - getting very close to a 'wet crank' now....

Secondly, I've finished stripping apart all the seized components on my Dickie Swath Turner. That's definitely the worst of it done - just a big clean up and then reassembly now ready for haymaking 2018

What have you done?

Hope this thread takes off :-)

Cheers, Jon.

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

Hey Joe,

Good looking 45 degree tread rear tires.  What brand are those??

I didn't do anything with my Massey's today because I spent the day (like the last three weeks) chasing the combine with the auger cart.  (And the family I'm working for is all green...).

However, my little MF 35 has been on duty pulling around a 500 gallon sprayer which was used earlier this season spraying fencerows and ditches, but most recently used to spray insecticide in the grain bins before we start filling them up with new corn and soybeans.   It's the only thing "red" in use on their farm.   :-)

Hi all, I have new neighbours next door. They were cleaning out their shed and found an old wagon.  I hitched it up to the 44 special to drag it home.  Looks great.  I don't know what the wheels are from, but hey look nice.  I might do it up as a reproduction Massey or Bain. Cheers, Buck

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

Buck,

That is a really nice looking trailer! Just the right height and size for small jobs around the yard. Sure is a nice looking 44 Special you have there looks like it was well taken care of.

Well todays project was first put antifreeze in the Cub jr as I am sure we will be seeing frost soon as it is that time of year, the second was to fix the oil pump problem. Ever since I got this tractor running last January the oil indicator has puzzled me as sometimes it would pop right up and sometimes it would fiddle around and not go up. So of course I thought it was too low on oil so when I added oil it would pop right up but then the tractor would smoke like an old steam train. The other day when I was driving it around I noticed when I would go down hill I would loose oil pressure and soon as I would go up hill it popped right up. Today I pulled the sump and pipe out and sure enough there is a pin soldered into the sump pipe that holds the ball in so the oil doesn't loose it's prime. Where the pin was soldered on both sides it was sucking air. Easy fix just a dab of permatex on both sides and now I have great oil pressure up hill and down!

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

I hate to tell you Joe but Miller Tire is the most expensive place to buy tires.

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

Well todays project was to fix the leaking gasket on the top tank of the 25 radiator. I have been putting this off for too long now as I didn't know if I wanted to open this can of worms because this is usually not an easy fix. Nine out of ten times the bolts break off and turn into a major project.

Well luck was on my side today and the three nuts that hold the cast top on came right loose for me. After lifting the top off I didn't realize just how much crud and rust was in there but I got it all cleaned out and a new seal cut and all back together so if it ever dries up and I get my corn out maybe I can do some plowing with this tractor.

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

It was a Massey-Harris-Ferguson weekend for me. Finally started making a new front end for my TEA out of a variety of salvaged parts, refitted the second gearbox from the Dickie, and finally got some floor boards on my Massey Ferguson 717 trailer.

This trailer had sat in the corner of a field in Devon since 1986 and had no floor at all. The sides were not to far away but years on the ground had rotten out most of the wood. However I've managed to salvage enough good timber to build the head board and tailgate from original timber.

Just wheel bearings and sides to go. Happy days. Cheers Jon.
