RE:Massey Posters

This poster is a particular favourite of mine.  It is on hard card,  A lovely depiction of quite an elegant M-H muck spreader.  I am lucky enough to have a No. 8 which is very similar to this No 7

Another of the card posters on the cream separators, is it a No 6?

It's the wrong time of year for strawberries and Jersey Cream here in England.

What some lovely posters. On this one showing a Row Crop 33 or 44 ? I don't know which! Would the rear tyres have been fitted this way round or is it artistic licence? Alan

RE:Massey Posters

Alan,
They get up to some funny things in Africa!  I am sure that the tractor is imagined to be on the groundnut scheme in Tanzania where a lot of the 744s went.  This could be a 744.

Malcolm,
No shortage of Jersey cream when I was in our local supermarket the other day and these days one can get strawberries any day of the year sourced from some country or other - so get the stove burning and we;ll have a mid winter strawberry feast!

Here is a stiff card poster that I found many years ago and had it framed.  The iconic MH 21 combine.  And notice how it bears the adrress of MH's office in Manchester on Brooklands Road just 2-3 miles from the factory in Trafford Park.

RE:Massey Posters

John,

Nice looking poster of the 21 Combine, Although we have a 21A in the yard it is in very rough shape. I have never driven a 21A in the field but I am guessing they aren't much different than most of the others just missing some of the newer features.

Here is a poster of the 70sp,80sp and 90sp we had an 80 Special and 90 Special but never owned a 70. I can't believe it has been forty years ago since we were in our prime with these machines.. Wow where has time gone???

RE:Massey Posters

Joe,

You are very lucky to have such a machine!  Time to get it into the shed and at least get it functioning again if not a full restoration.  I fell in love with the one at Larry Webber's Dome Valley sale - or was that a 20??????  Need to look at my photos.  I thought that was a truly gorgeous piece of machinery.  Maybe it was a 20? Engine on the side?  Time, as you say, flies - and so the memory fades (deteriorates!)..............  Yes - it must have been a 20.

At home our first combine was an MH 726 largely based on the N American 26.  As a teenager I felt like a King driving this.  I would like to have one but they are few and far between now and take a large amount of storage space.  I have seen so many left to rot - including our old one!

Here is another harvesting scene, again another of the hard card type previously mentioned.

I have had this for over 40 years now and often wondered if originated from Australia or some other warm climate, note the spark arrestor on the tractor exhaust, something we never saw over here in England.

RE:Massey Posters

I  am sure that most of you take the Massey Legacy magazine.  In the last issue was an article on artist Brian Bomberg who did a lot of posters/artwork for early Massey Ferguson.
I was very interested in this article because about two years ago I aquired an original MF poster by him and signed by him.

Here's a photo of it - unfortunately not the best quality because I had it framed and it is hung high up in our hall way.  It measures 15 x 66 inches so quite large!

RE:Massey Posters

I have a card poster series which originally came from the late John Moffit's collection.  John was the UK's biggest Ferguson collector until he sold it off to another and then it was subsequently dispersed.  A great collection but sadly no museum or large collector could be found to take it on.

These posters are N American origin and as far as I am aware were nevrused in the UK or elsewhere.

These are the first of them
