Okay so I have been having some issues with the 55. When I start it up, the shaft that runs from the transmission to the clutch bell housing doesn't turn like it should when its in neutral. When I push the clutch in, select the gear and release the clutch, the tractor will not move. The only thing I can think of is something is broke, but what I don't know. I know Im going to have to tear into it and see what I find. But was curious to know what everyone else's opinion was and anything to try before I do tear it apart.

Is the transmission stuck in two gears at the same time? This happens a lot on these old girls when the end of the shifter gets worn and slips between the two shift rods. If so it is an easy fix just pull the shifter out the top and stick a screw driver in there and line up the shift rods so there all in the neutral position.

Does your 55 have a foot or hand Clutch? Being as the shaft is not turning I would suspect a clutch problem. It is possible for the center hub of the clutch disk to break loose. There is an inspection plate on the top of the bell housing. Might remove it and have a look inside.
If it is a hand clutch could be out of adjustment.  Was the tractor under a load when the problem started?

Hi Cody, No the tractor was not under load when it started having issues and it has a foot clutch. I did take the inspection plate off and looked down in there but didnt see anything out of the ordinary. I even moved the clutch pedal while the plate was off and everything seemed to be fine. I will keep in mind what you mentioned. Thanks!
