RE:started taking the 55 apart

Sounds like your on the home stretch!!!  👍. Bet your anxious to fire it up, am sure you got your problem fixed!!!   Started tearing the engine down from the 101 Sr I’m rebuilding!!!  Had quite a time getting the head off, man was it stuck on but finally gave way, got the valve train out!!!  Tomorrow will drop the pan and front cover!!!  Anxious to see how that lower end checks out!!!  It ran and sounded good, didn’t smoke when I drove it into the shop!!

RE:started taking the 55 apart

Good to talk with you again Larry and yes I am very anxious to run it, I can hear it now barking to life, haha. Sounds like youve got a bit of a project yourself. Hoping all goes well for you.

RE:started taking the 55 apart

It kind of got put on the back burner as had some other things that came first!!  I did get the chassis rolled out and got a coat of pain on it and rolled back inside the first of this last week!!!    Wanted to get that done before bad weather prevented me from doing as I do most of my painting outside!!!

RE:started taking the 55 apart

Yes I know what you mean there. Cant wait to see pictures of it when she's done! I take it wasnt too hot your way to paint?

RE:started taking the 55 apart

Finally after 5 months my 55 is back in running condition. After I got home from work, filled all the fluids, checked the oil, had to fix one minor thing but that didnt take terribly long. After all that was done, I turned the key and pressed the button and she fired right up! I drove it around and everything went smoothly much to my relief. Still have the brakes to look into and one other small thing to fix. I am just happy its fixed and I can drive it again. On to the next project.....

Wow!!  Great job Dakota. That was a large undertaking and you made it work.  I am glad all went as expected and it is running as you expected.

Now you can come north and do your magic on some of mine!!

Great job!!

Gary

Yes it was quite an experience. I must admit I had some help from dad as he has more knowledge about stuff like this, but its knowledge I learned that I wont forget. I wouldnt call it magic, but I am willing to help!
