Tractors at local county fair

The local county fair started this week (on Sunday to be exact) which also means the machinery club members (including myself) bring out their tractors to be put on display all week. I think last I knew we had 70 tractors parked on the grounds. Among those 70 tractors, a couple represented Massey Harris and Massey Ferguson. The MH was a Pony and the MF was a 2805. When I seen those two there I really kicked myself that I didn't have my 55 ready, oh well maybe next year. Also there were 2 Brits that showed up as well, both of them Fordson Majors I believe (correct me if I'm wrong). So there is a little something for everyone there this year. Enjoy the pics!

       Cheers,

RE:Tractors at local county fair

We have our county fair first week in August every year!!  About 12 yrs ago me and another gentleman started an antique tractor show at the fair!!  About 5 yrs ago the other gentleman bowed out so I got elected chairman of what has become a yearly “project” at the fair!!  We. are a farming community that has become mostly BTO!!  Think first year we had 28 tractors and last 2 years we have had 50-60 tractors!!  It’s a 3 day show we usually have a good variety of tractors!!   This is primarily John Deere and Case IH country!!  On the 3rd day (Saturday) we have a tractor parade where we parade by an income based housing (mainly retired people) an assisted living facility, a nursing home and local hospital returning to the park where we parade thru while they are having the local  BBQ, where an announcer introduces each tractor & driver!!  We don’t have any demonstrations or such but the owners congregate and set around have a good time!!  I usually take at least 9-10 tractors as it’s only across town (about a mile) from my shop!! I’ve been working on that some getting it ready, putting up posters and mailing out flyers and such for last two weeks!! It’ll be here before I know it!!!

Keep flying the "Massey Flag" at your County Fairs, good to see some photo's of the tractors involved.

Dakota
The tractor on the left is a Fordson Major with four cylinder engine and the one on the right is it's smaller brother the Fordson Dexta with a three cylinder engine.

I knew you, Alan or John F would know what model was what, haha. Larry if I lived closer to you, I would bring mine.

RE:Tractors at local county fair

Dakota, I'm shocked that with your years of experience and your vast knowledge of tractors that you were  stumped with the tractors you saw displayed.

RE:Tractors at local county fair

It might have been sarcastic but in case not, not everyone is an expert in tractor taxonomy.  You have to start somewhere and Dakota is doing exactly what he is supposed to doing by asking questions.  But even more importantly he contributes in a positive manner to the community and forums.  Much more than the rest of us.

My 2 cents,

Drew

RE:Tractors at local county fair

Our show starts week from Thursday (usually take mine down on Wednesday) so thinking better be getting tractors ready, batteries ready,  washed up, fueled!!!  Just thinking will probably take 12 this year, got 8 people want to drive in the parade and am sure couple more will want to!!!  Just getting everything ready is busiest part but worth it once everyone starts showing up!!!!

RE:Tractors at local county fair

Remember to post pictures! Haha! Next year Im hoping I'll have the brakes fixed on the 55 so I can pull a shuttle bus at the fair. Got a lot of nice comments about the 40, kind of curious to see what reaction the 55 will get.

RE:Tractors at local county fair

This weekend we went up to visit the Cumbria Steam Rally in N W England.  There were a good selection of steam trucks, tractors and miniatures there, as well as a Pony as sole representative of Massey-Harris and some racing camels - something for everyone.  Here is a selection of shots which I will make several posts of
