RE:Tractors at local county fair

I'm pretty sure that D6 isnt steam powered, haha! Looks like it was a good time, would've been neat to watch that steam shovel work.

Dakota,

Sorry to disapoint but the RB excavator was engine driven!  Some very old diesel engine.

The dozer was impressive with those wide flotation tracks

My favourite was that Foden steam wagon (at the front of the queue).  102 years old and had seen service in Europe in the first world war.

Still neat nonetheless! I take it that shovel is British? Wonder what diesel powered it?

Hopefully that steam wagon continues to have people that take care of her, oh the stories she could tell.

Dakota - Yes, the Ruston Bucyrus was British made.  Ruston was a large British engineering company and I think that I am correct in saying that they had some link with Bucyrus who I believe was American.  I am sure someone knows more than me on this and could perhaps clarify

Dakota There was a Steam Shovel working at the 2013 Massey Expo at Paisley but I don't know if there are any photos of it in Gallery. Alan

RE:Tractors at local county fair

Very interesting John. I always enjoy watching the hydraulic shovels and the drag lines work in the coal mines, as there are several in the area I live in. Alan, I did not see anything in the gallery. Shame, wouldve been neat to see.

Dakota,

Here are a couple pictures of the steam shovel in Paisly in 2013 along with a couple old trucks they were loading.

RE:Tractors at local county fair

Very cool! Are those trucks Mack's? The rusty one definitely looks like one. There's a show in Pennsylvania that is kind of like Half Century, only its antique dozers, steam/hydraulic shovels, dump trucks and the like. Anyway I have seen videos of it on YouTube and after seeing those, have been trying to get over there. One of those things I've added to my "bucket list".

RE:Tractors at local county fair

Correct.  The one on the left is a Mack AB and the one on the right is a Mack AC.  I might have some pictures of their respective tags on those two trucks from 2013 somewhere.

RE:Tractors at local county fair

Hey wait a minute Joe, I think I know the guy who took those pictures!
