Massey-Harris Auction.

The United Kingdom "Massey Movement" has just witnessed the largest auction of Massey Harris memorabilia, toys, spare parts, barn machinery, implements, tractors and combines since 2011 and the late Ian Robertson's M-H sale in Scotland.

This two part auction has taken place over the last week in the very rural village of Marsham in Norfolk on the Eastern side of England. 
it was the M-H collection owned by Bob Parke who some of you in both the USA and Canada will remember, some visiting his annual vintage show over the recent years.

It was a superb weekend for Massey Enthusiasts and Friday evening at The Marsham Arms" Public House, it was an ideal location for a great get together with superb food and accommodation for the evening.

The UK "Massey Men's Meet" was a wonderful way to start the proceedings for the Saturday's onsite auction.

I arrived Friday mid day and managed to take some photographs before the event commenced, as I knew there would be a lot of talking and discussion with collectors from all over the country on Saturday.

The literature, toy and some memorabilia had been subject to an online only auction which ended the previous Monday, some items not reaching their reserves, others selling very realistically and the occasional item making very good prices.
Friday afternoon I collected my 22 lots which I had bought online.

Here are some photo's of the first few lots of Saturday mornings auction which started in the tractor shed at 10.00am prompt.

Cast iron seats followed by both reproduction and original advertising signs, flags and other interesting collectable items like the M-H Blackboard, which was the subject of "tossing the coin" on the previous evening in the pub to decide which side of the UK the Blackboard would reside, you can guess I lost and now it is in Wales.

Here is the barn equipment as the auction moved outside towards the field, all the feed cutters came East with me and both Canadian grain grinding mills went West, the small painted D727 mill being a model I had never seen before.

The UK built Hammer Mill I am fairly sure is heading to the USA.

Here are a few shots of some of the excellent M-H implements which dispersed to all corners of the UK and some possibly heading to the USA including the Scottish built M-H Dickie hay turner.

Now for a few horse drawn pieces of equipment and at this point in the sale where we witnessed items not reaching their reserves, the Bain wagon being an example and presume that will go back into it's usual prominent place on the balcony in the tractor shed. The sleigh sold extremely well to a local business who hope to use it for a promotional display, the mention of pumpkin display was talked about, guess that is part of "up cycling M-H items in this modern world"

Now for the combines and corn picker, the first two sold the Massey Ferguson 625 and the small UK built Massey Harris 735.
The US corn picker, US model 27 combine and UK 722 combine were all not sold and expect they will be heading back under the barn.

Now to some of the Wallis, Massey Harris, Ferguson and Massey Ferguson  tractors.
Of the 50 plus tractors in the sale some reached their reserves and found new owners around the UK and USA.
I think my personal count was 30 not sold (that may be incorrect but gives some indication)

Here are some photo's of the ones which I thought sold on the day, the Sawyer Massey 11-22 sold too on the day, but unfortunately I didn't get a photo of it on Friday as it was sheeted down all day.

Another one to add to the "not sold list" which many people didn't realise it's rarity low number production.
The 33 Diesel was a major restoration project partly started wit the engine end gearbox already been rebuilt, certainly a project for the "not faint hearted".

The very low bids on this one soon got the "walk on" from the auctioneer.

Looks like it was fun, wish I had the money to been able to go. Do you know who bought the tandem 55? Wouldnt have minded having the Ferguson Pony either.
