Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Our "Rallly" or show season is now well underway I am sure the few MCA members in Great Britain will be able to contribute photographs of a wide variety of M-H, M-H-F, Ferguson and M-F tractors and equipment seen out on the rally fields this year.

To start the thread off here is the Wallis and M-H representation from our Carrington Rally in Lincolnshire last weekend.

You will have seen this tractor before. It was at a very nice rally (show) in Suffolk at the weekend.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Thanks Alan,

Guess that was at Woolpit Rally? it is one event I would like to get to but being so near Carrington I always seem to be busy, spent the day yesterday getting everything put away, then I have to start thinking about Newby Hall this coming weekend.

Here are some more tractors at Carrington, a super line up of M-F classics and a grey Ferguson in our "steel wheels" feature.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

This weekend we were at the Newby Hall tractor rally in Yorkshire over in the east of England.  There were some interesting Massey "family" tractors there which are shown below.

- Julie and Pater Browning's vineyard grey gold Ferguson 35 diesel
- a well restored Ferguson Brown
- a nice Mk 1 65 with a Winsam cab - a popular cab for this tractor
- a lovely MF 175 - these are now quite thin on the ground
- an MH 203 unfortunately fitted with a P6 engine - will the owner ever get an original Continental for it.  This conversion was often made to make them more economic to run
- a good original 44 Special
- a well restored MH 744 diesel but unfortunately the red was far too orangey

A few more photographs taken during the parade at Newby Hall,

1. Peter driving his vineyard grey gold Ferguson 35.
2. A very nicely restored M-F 135 with front loader driven very carefully by the lady driver.
3. M-H 203 and trailer, this tractor was converted to a Perkins P6 diesel by the threshing contractor who used it in his East Yorkshire business for many years.

Note the British colour of the wheels on the M-H 203

For today here is a long wheelbase M-H 744 with Perkins P6 diesel engine, seen here with another lady driver pulling a land roller at the recent Newark Show.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Gary,
It's a Ferguson Sugar Beet Topper. It would cut the tops off the beet and another machine would come along and lift them out of the ground although I have never seen one working.
I did put the captions under the pictures but they don't come through although I'm not complaining. It's great to have the Website up and running again. Thank you to everyone involved in doing it.
Do you have sugar beet in Indiana Gary?
Alan

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

H Alan,

Thanks for the information!  Can't say I have ever seen one of those contraptions.  As for the sugar beets, none are grown in Indiana that I am aware of but you will find them everywhere in the north central part of the country.  Lots in Montana, Idaho, Dakotas.

Thanks for sharing!

Gary
