    wallis tractors

    Attachment: DSC03265.JPG

I thought I would start a thread about wallis tractors to find out who out there has a wallis tractor or have a few of them. so if you have a wallis tractor please share a picture with us and some information about it like a serial number and block number and maybe some history of it. right now I really only know of only a few people on this board that has some wallis tractors. so to start it out we have two wallis tractors right now. a wallis K serial number 16004 and a wallis OK serial number 25163. and there is a third wallis we are trying to get right now.

so what does everybody else have?

    Hi Tom:

This is not a picture of a Wallis but it may be very helpfull to others. This is the Serial # chart I was refering to some time back, I don't know if you have ever seen one like this so I thought I would put it on here. I hope it is big enough to read the numbers.

    Hi Tom:

Here is a Model OK that rolled out of the factory just a bit earlier than yours, this is Serial #24236 Engine # 23765. Made by the J.I.Case Plow Works it is a 15 H.P. This is the 1,036th tractor made in 1922. I got it from Gary Biewer back in 1998, I don't know who had it before him. I have steel for the rear and I believe also for the front with a bit of work I think it could run pretty easily. This tractor has the Pickering Govenor on it.

    Re: wallis tractors

    Hi Tom:

Here is another Wallis that rolled out of the factory not long after yours. Yours is toward the end of the Model OK 's and this tractor is in the begining of the Certified Models. This tractor is the 6th Certified Wallis made, it is Serial # 25650 Engine # 25179. I bet if you live to be 100 years old you will still remember this tractor because I believe there hasen't been another Wallis quite like this one!! It features live hydraulics and a comfort ride seat! Believe it or not this tractor runs like a swiss watch!

thanks for posting a picture of the serial number guide you have. I still can't figure out how the person that made that came up with those numbers between the last ok and the 40,000 orchard wallis's. I think there were not many others built in that time but I think that when wallis ended the ok they were making either some prototypes or a few orchard tractors which yours could easily be both with all of its unusual features. Also I still have not found any picture or any other wallis with the cast steering support like the one on your 25650.

that is a pretty decent OK, it would make a fine looking wallis some day. also I did find a few other special items the last time I was at beiwers. the first of which is a very odd set of wallis front wheels. maybe you know something about them. the are just a hair shorter than the normal wallis wheels but they are noticably narrower than stock. the picture I took is not very good but I will post it anyways. and I will also mention that they are setup for the flat wheel bearings used on the K's.

    Re: wallis tractors

and here is another bit of wallis information and history not many people know. I started to chase after a picture of one of these for the last 10 months about. it is a J.I. Case plow works truck. it has the wallis "K" engine with parts of the boiler plate frame on it. it had a 3 speed gear mixer, torbenson axles, wallis radiator, and it was painted battleship grey. as far as we have found they were built around 1920 to 1922. so here is a picture of it.

    Hi Tom:

Once again this is not a tractor but If you haven't already saw this it is quite interesting. I got this from Malcolm he copied it from one of his brochures. Notice the Cool looking engine in the Cub Jr, I have never come across one and I am sure I never will none the less it is interesting!

    Hi Tom:

Here is also a great tid bit of info: I think this is the coolest thing ever! Malcolm also gave me this copy, I wish I could stroll down to my local Wallis Dealer and pick up some of this paint!!

WOW joe, that is some of the neatest picture I have seen in a long time! I would pay to even see a wallis cub jr set up like that one! by the looks of it that was some sort of factory built prototype or (something?) doesn't look like a homebuild job. and I wish I could buy a few of those wallis paint cans. did malcolm ever tell you any sort of date on that advertisement?

I really want to figure out what those wheels at beiwers are off, they used the same hubs and looks like there is about 1/2" to 3/4" taken off each side of the rim and the spokes all seem to be in the same locations.

here is another picture I found on the net but since then like many times i have forgotten where it came from so they don't get credit. from what I found when I found it it is number 14116, and was pictured in the december 1990 issue of gas engine magazine. the number 14116 is probably the block number on it because according to the k-3 parts list it would be a k-3 if it were the serial number. so as you can see by the picture it is a kerosine fueled "K". so if anybody know where this one is at or happens to have a december 1990 isuue laying around I would very much like to learn more about this one.

also here is another "K" I recently found and I do remember where this one is at. just like our wallis "K" this one has the very unusual aftermarket pickering governor. as far as I have found and all the people that I have talked to do not know of any more or know much of anything about them. I do not yet know the serial number of it but it is around 16185 on up to about 20,000 serial number.

so enough typing here is the picture.

    Hi Tom:

Here is a picture of one of my four 12-20 Wallis Tractors. The Serial # is104666 and the Engine # is 104195 5093. My question is: Do you know what the last four numbers are for ( 5093 ) ?? All of my 12-20s have a four didget number after the engine number and I can't figure out what they represent. None have a common denominator like the 471 rule, any clue? I got this tractor from Tony Thompson back in 2004 I believe he picked it up in southern Iowa. The engine is stuck but it is very complete.

    Re: wallis tractors

Wow! that is the 1st one of them aftermarket Pickering governors I have ever seen! I don't know where I have it stashed but I am sure I have a bit of advertisment for that Govenor. Ever since I have moved out here some of my stuff ended up in the bermuda tryangle and I can't seem to find it back. I have been looking for a new set of valves i bought for one of my GP 4wds for over a year now and still can't find them. I know there here somewhere but where?

Keep the pictures comming! I am having a blast! Now if Tim P. and a few of the others would join in we could go on for days!

I really don't know for shure. I was thinking it could be a date of some sort. there is also a 4 digit number like these cast into the block by the exhaust manifold towards the back of the engine. I was thinking it could be a date but it might not work out that way. I was thinking the first digit could be the last digit of the year and the  next 3 could be the month and day like september 3rd 1935 or march 9th 1935 for your 12-20. on the #200017 12-20 at yuma (block number 199546) it says 3105. hopefully someday we will be able to come up with something to explain these odd numbers.

also another odd set of numbers I found are 7120 or 7102 (i can't remember which) is cast into the top of the rear end housing on #14734 K which we just aquired. it is in big numbers and is located right in front of the tool box.

and looking back in the archives of my pictures here is another odd cub jr (or k-3 can't tell) which has some very odd wheels and fenders. I think the rear wheels are the wallis wheels with the 12" extensions and the rice lugs.

I figured I would post one more picture before going to bed. so here is what I know. this "K"? was at beiwers last fall for sale. so I went to look at it. it was serial number 14410. but everything on it seemed to be from a very late "K" or an ok. so it had the wallis pto on it. chain drive all intact. the tractor went to pennsylvania and now could be bought again minus the pto. so here is the picture.
