Spring meeting '22

Well another MCA spring meeting is in the books. I think a good time was had by all, I know I did. Good food, meeting new people and talking with friends havent seen in a while. Seeing Mr. Kuhn's collection was my favorite part. Although I missed touring the EZ trail factory, heard that was fun too. I know for me, between the big lunch I had at Yoders on Saturday and the banquet Saturday, I think I gained 20 more pounds, haha.

For those who couldn't make it for one reason or another, you were missed and hope to see ya next year.

EDIT: I've posted a few of my favorite pictures from Mr. Kuhn's collection and a couple of Helmuth's tractors he had sitting outside for those who couldn't make it.

Cheers,
         Dakota

Thank you Dakota!  I'm so glad you were able to attend.  Don't forget the wonderful breakfast at the Best Western.  We sure didn't lack for good food.  Your pictures are nice.  Thanks for sharing them.

If I do say so myself this was the most fun I have ever had. I really enjoyed every aspect of it. I loved the Amish meals (I also probably gained some pounds too.), the tours of the E-Z Trail Factory, the MF Dealer, the Kuhn collection, and Luke Miller's Shop. Like Debbie said the Breakfasts were also great as well as educational. I learned a lot at breakfast talking with anyone who wanted to sit down. The Banquet and meeting were great and very enjoyable. I enjoyed meeting everyone and appreciate all the kind things all of you did for me and my family. I can't thank everyone enough for this great weekend. I would really like to thank John, Jo Jo, and Gary for allowing me to speak in front of all of you. I can't wait to do this again. I will post some of the pictures I took on here tomorrow. But thanks again to everyone who organized, participated, and helped make this thing possible, it really was like the motto says, "Old Massey's Collect the Nicest People". I have discovered the nicest collection of people that tractors can collect and I am proud to be a part of this collection. Thanks again everyone.

Attached are a few of the pictures I took at the meeting.

I presented my speech last night at our Area FFA contest, the same one I presented in Arcola. I placed 2nd to our Area President. I am very proud of this and it is good enough to move on to Distrcts. So April 5th I will give it again to see if I can go to State.

Wyatt,

Congratulations on placing 2nd and moving on to Districts!  Good job!  Hopefully the experience of giving your speech to the Massey Collectors was helpful preparation.

Also, thanks for the great donations to the Spring Meeting Auction.  You should be very proud of how well they sold, and where they ended up.

Best of luck with the District competition.

John

Speaking of the MCA Spring Meeting, we all owe a huge Thank You to Dannie Kuhns for all he did.  I heard nothing but very good feedback on the Friday morning "tours", which included the AGCO Dealership, E-Z Trail operation, and Dannie's impressive MF Collection.   Where else are you going to see 10 restored MF 1150 tractors under one roof??  And that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Dannie arranged and paid for the meal at the Amish home on Friday evening.  I certainly didn't hear any complaints about the food!  I've could have eaten those mashed potatoes and noodles until I burst.  (MCA paid the tip for that meal.)

The Saturday morning visit to 300+ Performance shop blew me away, and several others.  It was way more than I expected.  Luke Miller was very open and informative on how he creates those 5,500 HP pro stock monsters that we all enjoy seeing pull down the track.

Many Thanks to Dannie for the hospitality.  Here is a photo of the Group at Dannie's tractor building.  (Photo courtesy of Jim Bence.)

I competed last night with at Districts with my speech and am proud to say that I am moving on to State since I placed 2nd again. I will deliver it at State on April 21 or 22. I'm not sure which, but either way I am really excited and will definitely let you all know how I do at state.

RE:Spring meeting '22

Congratulations Wyatt! That is quite the honor of going to state. Wishing you luck from southwestern Indiana.

RE:Spring meeting '22

Congrats again, Wyatt.   Great job!

RE:Spring meeting '22

Hello all,

I competed at state today with my speech, I didn't place but it was against area and state officers that do this stuff everyday.

Even though I wasn't successful in speaking, I placed second yesterday in my proficiency award for Ag Mechanics Repair and Maintenance. This award was based on my project of working on, selling, and restoring my tractors.

My FFA speaking contest career is over and I can't tell you how important the Spring Meeting was to me. I want to personally think each and every one of you who encouraged, helped, or just told me good job. It really meant a lot to me and helped my journey progress. I have learned a skill set that I will never lose and thanks to everyone who helped me though this, I will always have these wonderful memories of the hard work that gave me so much for me to use later in my life.
