1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

As this very special 175th Anniversary Year for 'Massey' quickly moves forward and we prepare for the North American "Massey Expo" in Milton early September, I thought it would be very fitting to reflect back on the last 25 years of "Massey Collecting" around the world.

During this time there are many Massey Collectors who are no longer with us, many of them put tireless amounts of effort into the 150th shows around the world in 1997 and I just thought we should not let them be forgotten and pay tribute to their founding work from all the various Clubs and groups formed to preserve the history of Massey.

I am sure you all can contriubute to this thread of Massey Collectors and people you know who loved the passion of "Massey-Harris" from 1997 to today. This can hopefully be one extensive thread of 'past, present and future Massey Collectors'.

To start off with here is one of my favourite photo's from the Racine, Wisconsin 150th Show in 1997, the late John Cauldwell from Scotland, myself from England and John Farnworth from Wales enjoying the show after the torrential rain stopped.

Come on let's hear your memories and see your photo's from the last 25 years. I am sure we shall all see faces we cannot remember now, but I know someone else will put a name to the faces.

Enjoy the remainder of this Special Year as we build up to The 2022 Expo.

Malcolm.

Here are the "Quilting ladies" from 1997, the late Shirley Carroll on the left and Sandy Miller on the right, now who is the other lady to the left of me???

This 150th Anniversary quilt from the USA show still hangs in my office.

RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

Here we have the late Peter Ledwith from Ontario, at that time he was the main driving force behind the "Farm Museum Collection", later to be known as "Country Heritage Park" in Milton. Peter's enthusiasm and extensive knowledge of all things Massey was the instigator of the 150th Anniversary Show in Canada.
Seen here together with Steve and Sandy Miller who donated the quilt to the 150th Anniversary Show and it also resides here in my office in England.

Well I was only a year old in 1997, so can't really contribute much, but having been a member of the MCA for the last 4 years, I can honestly say in that amount of time so far I have met some incredible people and glad to call them friends, whether it was in person or chatting on here or by email.

Good to hear from you Dakota,

You can contribute any Massey Collector you think is worthy of a mention on here from 1997 to 2022. It's good to keep the history rolling and alive.
Do you recognise this "Massey Collector" from many years ago???

Good to hear from you too Malcolm.. That looks like a young Mr. Joe Poncelet. Another feller I'll mention is Mr. John Bush. He's the one that got me to join the MCA and answered my 50,000 questions about my 55 when I first got it.

Dakota,

Here is John Bush on his 55 a few years ago at the Expo in Le Sueur, also John and the late Vernon Winteroth driving the No 3 at the Dome Valley Spring Meeting in 2005.

Excellent pictures Malcolm. I'll also mention Mr. Emsweller, one of the 1st collectors I met in person and got to tour his collection.

RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

Here is the evidence of them enjoying themselves across the pond Dakota way back in 2011 and again in 2015.

I think Gary likes the little M-F 134 crawler of John's and he got to drive the 744 too.

John and Gary discussing 'Jersey Cream' and the viscosity test with the pencil at the Rushville Expo !!!!
Let's hope Gary and Ony remembers to bring the Strawberries and Jersey cream to Ontario.
