Whilst we have a good thread going at the moment on the Massey Harris Chain Lift Plough I thought it would be a good opportunity to see what other collectors know about the Massey Harris Pulverator Plow (plough) which was maunufactured and sold in North America and also available in Great Britain through M-H agents in both two and three furrow configurations.

Very nice original photograph of the Pulverator in action Tom. I also have a copy of the original instruction manual.

I know of three two furrow plough's here in UK, two are original imports, one has the rear tail wheel and one without, the one I have came from Nebraska and a recent import again has no tail wheel.

This is the second surviving original UK import M-H Pulverator Plough with tail wheel, these photographs were taken in 2000 at the world Ploughing Championships at Lincoln. Since then the combination is often seen out working at events in Lincolnshire.

This is the third and final Pulverator Plough I know of so far in UK, I bought it from Mark Wendel in Nebraska after looking for one for many years, it really amazed me when I got it into the field how it will chop and bury trash, leaving a good tilth in lighter soils. I am very surprised this concept of one pass cultivation has not been used in these times of high horsepower taractors with one pass machines.

The unusual feature of the Pulverator Plough which I have not seen on any other trailed plough is the lift mechanism is in the hub of the furrow wheel, where as general purpose ploughs have the lift in the land wheel, does anyone know the answer to this?

Here is another plow that uses a furrow lift. I believe that the pulverator and this plow share some similar parts. This advertisement shows the massey harris version but they did make a J.I. Case plow works model that is a little more common.
I have a 3 bottom J.I. Case and a 2 bottom Massey Harris of this style
Joe has a 2 bottom J.I. Case, and a 4 bottom I think is a J.I. Case
there is another 2 bottom Massey in MN, a 3 bottom J.I. Case in IL I am sure there is more but that is all I can think of right now.

Here is another piece of Massey equipment that I have. I believe it is a Massey Harris #8 One Way Disc. I do have one piece of literature on it I will post next. I bought this in Missouri at the 2010 Massey Days show. I and glad I did as it is a fun implement to have even though I have not done any fixing on it yet I plan on it.

That is interesting on the J I Case and M-H no 3 plow Tom, I have not heard of either here in UK.

I was hoping we would get some Pulverator Plow coversation and pictures from Muscatine, Iowa on here???

Here is some picture of the small fold out ad for my one way disc. Looks like they wre trying for a low-till operation with this too. Must not have taken off very well as it is listed in the 36 or 37 dealer price list at a very discounted price
