RE:Massey mens' food!

Drew,

Your little guy is growing up fast!! I think the last picture I saw of him he was just coming home from the hospital, Wow! time flies. His Massey Men's watermelon looks like the perfect treat for this time of the year with the warm weather were having here it would be great to have a nice big slice, probably even better if smeared with Jersey Cream!!

I went on a 3200 mile trip last week to Othello, Washington to pick up my new toy, when I got there it was very clear we were the minority in a very dominate Mexican town. There were many street venders selling food out of trucks and things so I thought I would go for it and try a really true Mexican taco. Although it looked good it was just about the nastiest tasting taco I have ever tasted, from now on I will stick with the American version of Mexican food as it is much better than the real thing in my book Thank God for Taco Bell!!

RE:Massey mens' food!

Before the Rushville event I just want to check with Gary that all the strawberry and jersey cream supplies are in hand!  We don't want any disapointments as we are travelling so far for them.

The latest thing here is that my eldest grandson (5!) has suddenly without prompting laid down the law that HE will be having a party in MY tractor shed when he comes on his holidays in about 4 weeks times.  There are to be large and small cakes amongst other things - the larger one to have MH icing on it.  Then there are to be presents and everyone has to have admission tickets.  Where do they get it from?  So you see Gary you will be having it easy with just provision of strawberries and JERSEY cream!

Look forward to seeing you all. Malcolm alrerady on his way - via Texas!

RE:Massey mens' food!

Hi John,

We are putting the finishing touchs on a massive strawberry/Jersey Cream party for MENA!!  We have the Cream on order and the strawberries ready for delivery. This will be the North American introduction of Jersey Cream!!

The challenge we have is the cream can not be delivered until Saturday morning of the show!!  Of course, I am sure Pennsylvania will have much better pickings than we will here in Indiana but if you find yourself really in need of a good helping of Jersey Cream you might want to change your itinerary to be in Rushville instead of some hilltop in PA!!

Just a thought!!

See you soon!!

Gary

RE:Massey mens' food!

Gary,

That's great news.  We WILL be there!!  Hope all other arrangements for the show are going smoothly.

Can you get a line up of 55D Westerns, Hillsides and Ricelands organised for my further education please????!!!!!!

John

RE:Massey mens' food!

Hope Gary and John B manage to fulfill your wish at Rushville John, you should get all your questions answered there and come home with all the information you need in readiness for your tractor arriving.

just had some wonderful strawberry ice cream for supper here in Texas, we will see how the Mid West compares when we get to sample it.

RE:Massey mens' food!

Well as we all know strawberries and Jersey cream were not to be at Rushville.  It was all one great hoax.  But never mind Gary, we will excuse you as you were busy with greater things organising a very succesful event which I believe that we all enjoyed.

Up in Canada before the show we were suspicious of what would be our lot at Rishville.  But we were saved by Craig Sitter and Karen who took us to this marvellous - yes marvellous - restaurant in the middle of Toronto.  It used to be Hart Massey's (son of Daniel) old home and was originally built by a Mr McMaster who founded the university of that name in Ontario.

This is a splendid old house and well worth a visit.  Now owned and run by Keg restaurants if my memory serves me correctly.  Thanks for a wonderful feed and night out Craig and Karen

RE:Massey mens' food!

Well the long awaited strawberries and Jersey cream were a real let down at this years Rushville Expo, a good job the excellent variety in the line of tractors made up for the loss of our favourite fruit.

It was a good job the Canadians looked after our interests with great attention to detail, there was not a meal passed by without the good old strawberry being present in one form or another, even the stawberry ice cream was enjoyed by myself most days.

I have to make it publicly known about the "official presentation of the cream viscosity testing pencil" which was handed over to Gary on the Friday morning before we left Rushville, the photograph clearly shows he was getting his instructions on how to use it very clearly, hope you remember all the fine detail Gary!!! it will come up again in the future, so be prepared!!

RE:Massey mens' food!

About a month ago my eldest grandson, Sam, rang me up announcing that HE would be having a party in MY tractor shed when he came on holiday.  He phoned on several further occasions to advise on the format!  Well the day arrived - today and we are now through it with younger brother David.  Here are a few shots of the event.  Enjoyed by ten of us in the best of Massey food traditions.  Start them at a young age has got to be the motto.

RE:Massey mens' food!

Well 2014 has been the "Massey Party Year", good to see the next generation of Massey Collectors coming along in fine style John, we have to keep them encouraged for the continued growth of the movement worldwide.

During our recent time in Ontario I must say we had a few stops at "The Massey House Restaurant in Newcastle the home of Massey", special thanks to owner Gus and his team for looking after us so well with Massey Men's food, he continues to keep the Massey history alive in a small town where "Massey" means very little to many of the residents today.
