RE:Pacemaker Orchard Tractors

Tom,

Basically I would like to see something on Massey-Harris notepaper!!!!!!!!!!

The numbers I have came from an early MF source when MF still had MH archives.  I believe that KO would have the same source as we have the same numbers.

I am not ruling anything in or out but prefer to look at all possibilities.  I can neither support or disbelive your theories but absolute evidence is always desirable before reaching absolute conclusions!

There has for many years been conjecture the manufacture of these tractors in 1939 but no-one has so far come up with the proof.  I would be the first to marvel at such evidence if came out of the woodwork.

Perhaps another consideration is that once they started production of the war time tractors surely MH would have wanted all their production line capacity for them anad not hangover production of the U frames??????  All food for thought............

John

RE:Pacemaker Orchard Tractors

Well in my opinion there is nothing better for proof than casting dates on several different pacemakers and 25's but if you want your Massey Harris paper proof they are in the 1939 price list for sale as I said in one of the last posts and if you look in the Massey legacy volume 1 book you compiled on page 305-312 is the price list for 1941. Tractor prices effective December 23rd 1940, and it still shows you can buy the Pacemaker, 25, Challengers and orchard tractors. I'm sure this is still not good enough for you but that's all the info I need so that's the end of this for me.

RE:Pacemaker Orchard Tractors

Yes Tom,

Still being sold in the years that you mention - but being manufactured???

I am not being adamant about anything just questioning!

RE:Pacemaker Orchard Tractors

Hi all, it's been a while since I've added a thing on here.I monitor everyone's comments every day.  It's been very difficult adding photos from my device. I've picked up a nice Styled Orchard Pacemaker. S/N 204076. I hope this come through. This was found about an hour away from home , but no orchards to be seen. Hopefully I will have it running during the week. Hope everyone is well.....regards Buck

RE:Pacemaker Orchard Tractors

Hi Buck,

Great to hear from you! Nice Find! Are you sure about that Serial Number?? Mabye it was a typo but are you sure the Serial number is 204076 or is it really 200476??  I have Serial Number 200486 in my collection and John Bush has 200487.

Your tractor really looks to be in pretty good shape, nice to see your collection is still growing and there are some of these old girls still in the wild...

Joe

RE:Pacemaker Orchard Tractors

Guess you may be correct As yours would be a Distilate burner.

RE:Pacemaker Orchard Tractors

Gday Joe, yes, ours are distillate. Mine is 204076....across the other side of Aus is 204074. Hope all is well with you. Regards Buck.

RE:Pacemaker Orchard Tractors

it's been a long time since this thread has had some action so I thought I would add some of my latest aquiries.. Here is a tractor I just picked up a couple weeks ago, It was in good running order until it went through a barn fire. It will live again, got tires ordered for it so it can get back on her feet soon. Tractor # 200412

RE:Pacemaker Orchard Tractors

Here is the other one I just picked up last week, put on 3,300 miles and used up alot of that $5.79 gas along the way. I have the history all the way back to the original owner who bought it new for an apple orchard in Sturbridge, MA. This tractor has gone through several alterings including a blue bomb can paint job, because I am told in MA you don't waste anything so if all you have is blue paint that is the color you use. This is tractor # 200259

RE:Pacemaker Orchard Tractors

Put a new magneto and wires on and belted it up to the M-H 44-6 to see if it would pump oil. Gave it a wiff of either and she popped right off but sounded like a John Deere. Pulled head off and found loose and broken off head bolts and a really bad head gasket. Got Tom on the job of making head bolts. The radiator will need some surgery also.
