ferguson evolution

The first Ferguson prodution tractor was the Ferguson model A.  It was more popularly known as the Ferguson Brown becsuse Harry Ferguson had his tractors made by David Brown.  Only 1350 of them were made but a surprising number have survived and command high prices with enthusiasts.  It was a diminutive little machine seen here on the right with a later regular English Ferguson tractor to the left.  The English Ferguson tractor was essentially the same as the US built TO Ferguson tractors but with different makes of engines.  There is one model A in the Ontario museum and just a very few others in N America.

The model A was a very unsophisticated tractor other than for its revolutionary Ferguson System linkage which revolutionised tractor design worldwide with the design principles carrying through to the present day.

RE:ferguson evolution

John,
Just looking through Cheffin's upcomming sale and you can now expand your collection. They have a very early Ferguson Brown with fenders Serial # 376 for sale. Also a really nice set of Steel wheels that you can put on yours. Don't say no, consider it.... They also have a nice 744PD I wouldn't mind having and a very early Massey Harris 25 that is even earlier than Jacks it is Serial # 69019 equipped with a very rare winch. Wish it wasn't so far away...
