Collect old MH parts

I come here with a suggestion for MH enthusiasts.  Why not collect old implement parts?  They make a fascinating insight in to the history of MH.  Some of the designs are quite mind blowing.

All these old parts have M-H and a part number cast in to them so are all quite unique.  They can be obtained for little money if you keep your eyes open for them.  They take up little space for storage.

Just stand back and look at these parts.  What an incredible history they have.   Each one had to have an engineers design conception.  then he had to commit this idea and size to paper.  Then someone at the foundry would have to make a wooden pattern as a mould for it.  Then the mould would have to be formed in special sand.  Then this mould filled with molten iron and allowed to set.  Then this rough cast piece would have to be finished off and possibly holes drilled in it or some additional shaping.  Then to an MH parts shop for subsequent use in the construction of an implement.  There would have been thousands of these made and most have gone to scrap now.  So think on and keep an eye open for them!  They could become a new trading currency between enthusiasts??!!

I think I once saw an old MH parts manual that listed many of theme according to their number, what they were and what tmplement they were used on.  Maybe KO can help out on this??

RE:Collect old MH parts

It looks like you have had a busy summer John re arranging all your boards of "M-H Cast Iron", they look and display well leaning up your shed wall.

Last weekend I started a bit of a "tidy up" on my balcony and made space on my shelves up there for a lot of the non painted items, it is surprising what we gather up over time and much better to see them displayed, rather than just thrown in a pile of "scrap iron".
