It's been a long time since I've bought anything from Canada so I thought I would test the waters what with these trade wars going on. I found a great looking hand grinder on an auction and thought why not? I was the lucky winner for $100.00 which was about $72.00 US money, not too bad I'm thinking. Then comes the 15% buyers premium, ok that's fair. Now I can't drive up there and get it so a small fee of $86.53 will cover the shipping and handing, ok. So it is now on it's way and I get an email from UPS wanting another $49.20 for Import Fees and another $7.20 for Brokerage Charges. Now my Cute little Grinder is up to $257.93 by the time it hits my door. Granted I'm sure this is all in Canadian funds so it should be about $186.56 US money, but wait.. I have not gotten my credit card bill yet and I'm sure they will chomp out some for exchange fees for the 4 times I withdrew money for payment. Oh well I now have a very nice grinder added to my collection, but I will have to really double think it over before I go and purchase a $100,000.00 tractor from Canada.
