I just purchased a Massey Ferguson F40. I'm curious to hear from anyone with information about the F40, particularly I'm wondering what the difference is between the 50 and the F40 or if there is any. It would appear the F40 is ever so slightly lighter than the 50. It seems they have the same 2.2 litre Continental engine.
Also is there anywhere one can buy grill parts?

I can answer the question on the grill screens.  A.S. Fabricating makes reproduction grill screens.  They advertise in our Newsletter, the Clipper.  They have an updated ad going into our next issue with updated pricing.  I am attaching a scan of the updated ad they sent to me.

Anyone know if the engine serial number can be cross referenced to the tractor serial number. My MF F40 has serial number SGM 407997. That first 7 is hard to read but believe it to be a 7. The engine plaque is in good shape and easy to read, hense the question. I do have a second MF F40, which is missing the serial/model plaque all together. Any hints on how to find serial number would be great.
