Well I thought I would start up a new Wallis tractor thread on the new site.

This is the same tractor I started the last post with so I thought it would be fitting. Now a few years later this Wallis OK is getting very close to being done for now. We had it started up on the belt and running for several hours a couple weeks ago after doing the work to get it running.
New big tank, new starting tank, new fan shroud, rebuilt AT4 magneto, replaced manifold with nicer one, had air cleaner welded up, new exhaust elbow, rebuilt vaporizer, nicer belt pulley, replaced all thrrottle rods and ends, rebuilt waterpump, New oil indicator, and finally tightened up the rod bearings.


After we had it running we noticed the head gasket was leaking slightly so it was decided that the head should come off and get rebuilt with a new head gasket. The new head is ready to go on when I get the new valves finished.

I guess I am the only one working on a Wallis now days. I picked up the rebuilt head for our OK yesterday from the machine shop. we had it all cleaned up, resurfaced the bottom, new seats, new guide bushings, new valves. I have to wait untill the new valves are finished to assemble the tractor again. I hope it will be done in a few weeks.

When working on a Wallis tractor you will run into some of the biggest cobble jobs you have ever seen in your life here is a picture of an easy fix to a bad front wheel seal the old "rag and wire trick". I have seen this on many Wallis tractors so it must have been the easiest way for a quick temparey permant fix.

Here is another great cobble job "rear brakes" on a Wallis model K looks like an OSHA nightmare but I bet is worked better than nothing at all.

Can anyone out there throw any light on the origins and reasons for the "Robin" manifolds and carburettors that were often fitted (after market product) to Wallis 20-30 tractors?

They are most comonly found on 20-30s of Candian origin like mine - see the picture.
Also they seem to be exclusively found as gas (petrol!) only tractors.

I have had several reasons proposed to me:
1. More robust and to replace original poorer quality Wallis manifolds.  Certianly the Robin manifolds are of far better quality steel
2. Gas cheaper in Canada at the time
3. Better performance in cold Candian conditions
4. Increase in power 

I am currently renovating an original Wallis manifold/carburettor assembly to bring the tractor back to original spec.  Needless to say it's an arm and a leg job and took me 10 years to find a set that was suitable for repair and restoration.

All as I can say is that the little Robin carburettor is very reliable.  I have a styled 25 from Canada but this has retained the original Kingston carburettor.  This too I am reconverting to original after another long search for a semi decent manifold set.

From what I have learned the Robin company and the MIA company are two different companys. They must work well together as you see them often on different tractors expecially on 15-30 and 22-36 IHC tractors.

I bet they were an easy sell as they would have been much quieter and easy on the ears than origional Wallis manifolds and they would get the exaust up in the air and out of your way so you don't have to breathe the exaust all day long.

Well here is another Wallis that I want to go see one day. these wallis "15" orchards are still a big mystery to me. There is no two the same and all have new and old parts.

Does anybody have any answers to these "15" orchards?

Don't know much about the 15s but in years to come I am sure we will learn more as we put the pieces of the puzzle together.

Wow! did I have different day yesterday, I got up at 5:00AM to let the pooch out and in less than a minute she killed a skunk so I had to give her a bath to try to get some of the stink off. I figured I was wide awake and it was very cool and dry out so I started to mow lawn at 5:30AM. I mowed all day and filled several boxes of scrap metal in between in the yard next door. I was just about done mowing but had one more piece left in the Junk yard to mow so I headed back over there with the mower. As I was driving along side my corn field I couldn't believe my eyes, In the shortest two rows in the field laid my Camera I plowed under last year!! I truely thought I would never in my lifetime see that camera again. It was smashed just as I figured one of the lugs or the colter on the plow hit it dead center. I did not care about the camera all I wanted was the SD card out of it, I slowly opened it up and the card was perfectly in tact. I quickly stuck it into my computer and all 951 pictures are still perfect!!

About an hour later the sky got real dark and boy did it rain!! We got 3 inches by the time it was done. What a day!!
