RE:What did you do with yours today...?

Malcolm,

The Styled 25 may be in the Intensive care unit a bit longer than the other one. I pulled the covers off tonight and noticed the #2 bearing had spilled it's guts out in the bottom of the U frame. I am sure just like the other 25 the oil pump shaft is twisted off and will need fixing. I am guessing by the looks of the way the Babbitt was stuck to the bottom, when this happened there was no oil in the engine or this wouldn't have stuck like this. I am guessing someone got this tractor running several years ago and didn't bother to even check if there was oil in it and ran it briefly and melted the bearing. The other three seem to be tight and won't wiggle but the #2 is very loose. I just happen to have some NOS bearings I can put in just as long as the crank  looks good.

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

Here's the latest work by my local esteemed Welsh engineer down in the village.  Refurbishment of the wide front axle on my 1937 green Challenger.  New King pins and bushes, thrust washers, track rod ends and fore and aft pivot pins.

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

A few more pics of the refurbished front axle for my wide front green Challenger.  I brought them home yesterday and it is now ready to be refitted.  The main pivot pin had worn right through its housing and was riding on the axle.  So this was re-built and bored out to fit

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

John Looks like you are having quite an engineering project there. It will be a lovely tractor when you have finished it. I remember you were looking at one in a sale in Scotland some years ago. I can't remember what colour that one was. You seem to be able to post your photos on the website ok. Perhaps you should give me a crash course on how to do it. Alan

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

Alan,

The Scottish wide front Challenger was a red one and had a different axle - tubular and not rectangular  I was heavily outbid on that occasion!

Now then - about posting photos - it's all quite easy - USE a CAMERA instead of these silly modern gadgets and you will encounter no problems at all!!!!

Enjoy the loveley autumn weather.  I'm just off to the sheds to start draining water out of the engines as colder weather is forecast

John

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

John Thanks for the advice but I don't have a camera and my phone is always in my pocket. All I have to do is to learn how to use it. My problem is that I am a slow learner as I have had a phone for a number of years now !!!!! Alan

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

Alan,

I have never had any luck trying to post a photo directly from my phone.  What I do is save the photos from my phone to my laptop.  Then I use my laptop on the website to post photos. Your phone is a digital camera.  It's all in how you store and then use the photos you take.

Here are a couple of photos of my MF 1080 which has been on lease to my neighbors big farm operation since June.  During harvest it has been on auger duty and urea spreader duty.  It was on sprayer duty most of the summer.

Cheers,

JB

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

J B / Alan,

I hear what you are saying John but one photo I have on my computer here just will not load onto the "Implement thread",  others taken by the same phone camera have been sent to me and they loaded immediately onto the thread, this one I have reduced the size to a mere midget and still it will not post on that thread.

So just as an experiment I am going to try it here to see if it will attach.

Great this modern technology!!

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

No it will still not load on this thread John.

I will email it to you and see what you can make of it, it's the first photo I have been beaten with in the history of this great website.

Malcolm.

RE:What did you do with yours today...?

Got rained out this evening, so home early looking at email.  Malcolm, I received your very small file size photo and was able to open and save it on my laptop.  I will now try and post it here to see what happens.   We will know in a couple of minutes.
