In my photo files I found this pic of a GREEN 82 which was sold off at Larry Webber's massive auction in Dome Valley, Arizona some years ago.  Note the downswept exhaust, short air intake stack and is that some sort of loop bracket underneath it?

Here is a photo of a yellow 81 which I saw at some show in Ontario.  Note that it has eye bolts in the front axle.  But is the upright exhaust pipe and longer air stack a subject of the restoration process that  this tractor has undergone??

The yellow tractor in the pictures looks to be a 22.
A few years back I had MH 20 Standard painted blue. It now resides in S. Dakota.

If indeed that yellow tractor is a 22 then do we conclude that these too were used by the military?

I notice also the different style of weights on the front wheels compared to the weights I have seen on 81-20-22's. I have a set of original front wheel weights for my 81, have not gotten them mounted yet and they are different from those in the pictures.

Also, wondered if these tractor might have had different pistons so as to burn the higher octane aviation gas? Can't see the military having a separate supply for tractors vs planes. Or maybe, that isn't a big deal and the engines can burn that gas with no problem?

Just my ramblings however, you started a thread that has me very interested.

Just thought it looked more like a 22 with the 22 grill, front side panels and the taller tires, possibly 10 x 34 like you see on many 22 Standards.

I agree that the grills are different - fewer slots in what you suspect is a 22

The 81/82s had  7 x 32 tyres or 8 x 32 "oversize" rear tyres

Years ago an old friend worked at Mitchell Field at a private air service company. One of his duties was to drain off 5 gallons of aviation fuel (gas) to prevent moisture build up and was allowed to take it home. As a good friend he gave me all I needed for my tractors and lawn tractor. It didn't shorten my mowing time, but the engine ran very smooth because of the higher octane.   

He also drained the jet fuel and used it to heat his home in the fuel oil furnace.
