RE:Massey-Harris Auction.

John,

It's amazing what good comes out of our M-H discussions, both when we meet and here on the website.

I have had two of these mills for many years now, the first one came from Manitoba and that has been shown many times with my M-H engines, the second one with bagging elevator came from Ontario.
Until you asked about the size of mine I had always presumed they were both the same, as the physical size looks identical, after your last post I got to look at mine this weekend, I was amazed to find they are both different sizes.

The first photo is an 8 inch

Second photo is 6.5 inch.

Just to clarify what we are all talking about on this mill size issue here is a photo of the end plate of my mill showing the 8 inch designation cast in the plate

RE:Massey-Harris Auction.

Hi John,

Thanks for the information on the burr mills!  I went out and checked mine and there it was "6 1/2"

Also is a couple of pics of my black board.  Does yours have the chalk holder along the bottom?

Gary,

No chalk holder on mine.  Did MH supply the chalk as well?

Is the chalker holder screwed on or is it a press fit/clip on arrangmenet?

Always something to learn ...............

John

RE:Massey-Harris Auction.

John,

Mine is mounted using five small nail brads that are nailed from the front of the holder through the board itself.  Simple but fragile!!  I assume that is why many are missing.

I have not seen and Massey chalk but I would love to find a Massey eraser.  We can put it right up there with a MH military tank!! At least they made the tanks!!  Very doubtful they made the chalk OR the erasers!!!

RE:Massey-Harris Auction.

It is only six weeks since the big M-H auction of Bob Parke's in rural Norfolk and last Saturday at the Cheffins autumn vintage collective auction we saw the ex Bob Parke Wallis K turn up on the auction block yet again, the new owner obviously moving it on very quickly, this time it sold for £1800.00.
