RE:Massey family Xmas cards

John,

I still have a few more cards to post on here before Christmas, but as you mentioned M-H cards yesterday this one has been brought up from the bottom of my pile.

This wartime 1943 Christmas card from M-H in UK was I guess intended to brighten up every ones spirit by showing the Royal Family and their activities.

That really is a rare card Malcolm - any more in your files??

Here's a winter snow scene in Northern Ireland.  An MF 35 pulling what looks like a load of logs.  Is it a 4 cylinder that needed a tow on a cold morning or a 3 cylinder which would always start?

This shot is from the MF archives I believe.  Taken in the depth of winter in the Stoneleigh Deer Park where the internationally famous MF Training School was located.  I think that this is probably an MH 55K trator that the school used to own - a truly classic shot.

Here is another beauty, if memory serves me correctly I am sure John used the original Wallis copper printing block to reproduce these cards.

This one is just for you Joe.

While we are talking Wallis, I guess it's the right time to post the British Wallis Christmas Card,

Yes Malcolm - I did have that cross section of the Walis printed from a copper plate printing block.  As far as I can recall this was at the bottom of a mixed box of small memorabilia that I bought from a sale.  I was surprised to find it when I unpacked the box.  I was even more pleasantly surprised to find a small local printer who could print from a copper plate.  Copper plate printing was an amazing process in its day - how did they inscribe so finely the plate????

Christmas Greetings, All!

It would seem that the UK has been more prolific over the years at producting Massey related Christmas cards!  Being off work for a bit (finally), I made a trip up to the Massey room to recall what I had.  Found two cards on the display shelves.

Here is the cover from a Christmas card with a definite winter scene.  I find this card really interesting as it depicts a European style MF tractor (headlights, mud guards, wheels...) while in the background there is a barn with the USA flag.   Interesting...

Cheers,

JB

RE:Massey family Xmas cards

Here is the second card I found.  While it does not depict a winter scene, it was a Christmas card I received a few years back from a well known Massey collector and frequent contributor to this site from the east side of the UK.

This card also included a small artist rendering aerial view of the Blackstone Works in Stamford, England on the back of the card.  I tried to scan it at fairly high resolution so that I could blow it up and attach it here.

Cheers,

JB

RE:Massey family Xmas cards

Many thanks JB,

Several years ago there was an entire run of Christmas Cards made from the set of very colourful M-H / Blackstone catalogue front and rear covers, we even found time then to do a calendar as well with the same image on, somehow now there just does not seem to be enough hours in the day to get it all done.

For today here is another "Lincolnshire produced Christmas Card", a tractor which has been in the family ownership on the same farm from almost new, I know it's still treasured today and will let the owner tell us all about it and the driver when he sees this post.
Merry Christmas to Jack and all the family.

Malcolm.

Malcolm - rare to see such a nice pic of a working green 25 - is that Jack driving?

Here's an MF 35 which looks to be stuck in the snow - maybe wouldn't start??  And for Jack another larger than life dog surveying the wintery scene
