RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

One more photograph which I just remembered whilst talking about M-H rubber memorabilia, is the M-H inner tube which was bought at the Baraboo Expo in 2012.

Has anyone else seen any of these?, this is the only one I have come across, but then the majority of my tractors are steel wheels!!!!

Malcolm

I'm please that you and John managed to buy the tyres (tires). Did you buy the chairs as well? One red one yellow. If you did I can sit in one whilst I'm enjoying my ice cream.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Alan,

I think George and Barb want something to sit on during their retirement now, so no we did not buy the red and yellow chairs in Ontario.

But Steve Miller did buy for me the M-H Director's chair at the Gerald Fank Massey auction in Minnesota earlier in the year, he brought it to Rushville in July and here is a photo of it displayed in the tent with his stove and John's M-F clocks. It too travelled in the recent container from Ontario, so when you next visit you can sit next to the tyres in a true Massey Chair and enjoy your ice cream.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Now getting back to "cast iron" memorabilia here is a Wallis 12-20 radiator top tank with the name cast into the tank rather than a screw on nameplate, which has recently arrived from Canada.

For the horse implement enthusiasts here is a nice piece of Bain Wagon cast iron, there seems to be several different versions and numbers of this Bain piece, does anyone know how many versions there are?

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Going back to the whipple tree tugs (hooks) I have just noticed that our British ones are different to the N American ones - the one I previously showed was from Canada.

Here is a pic from one of my whipple tress showing how ours have a "bar" over the end presumably to stop them becoming detached easily.  Maybe Gary we have friskier horses??!!  Anyway it's an interesting difference uncovered............

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

John,

You are correct on the the bar keeping the tugs attached.  We have those, too.  I will have to look at what we have have on our MH trees.  There is also a type that is spring loaded so the chain can not be accidently be disconnected.  When that does happen you definitely have a mess on your hands!!

Thanks for sharing.  I will look at what ends ours have!!

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Here are a few different hooks I have.

The first is similar to John's with a the bar across the hook.

The next one is different in that it is connected to the tree using a steel strap.  It also has a steel bushing around the strap to protect it from excessive wear.

The third one is a basic piece of flat steel formed into a hook that stores inside the metal tree.

The fourth one is similar to the first one but the bar is turned 90 degrees.  Beats me why!!

The fifth one is from my father-in-laws trees we used in parades.  It was a simple snap to assure the tugs would not disconnect..  It, too, stored in the metal tree.
