RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

We seem to be loosing a few reply buttons again Joe and Brendon??

Whilst we are discussing whippletree's and horse related M-H items here are a pair of curved wooden handles I picked up this year in Ontario, they are in very good original condition with great lettering on both, does anyone know what implement these were fitted to??

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

John,

The Mystery piece you are wondering about is the bracket that goes on the end of a sickle bar mower and holds the swath board or stick on. Here is a picture of one I found but it is a bit small and blurry but at least you can see what I am talking about.

Joe,

Thanks for that info - now I recognise its origins.  Today another piece of a hitch from a horse drawn implement.

Whilst we are talking M-H "hitches"

Here is a very small clevis htich I picked up this summer with <M-H> nicely cast into it, I have no idea what implement this came from.

This is an old front wheel from one of MH's early four wheel horSe drawn muck spreaders.  I have no idea from which model it is.  I have a larger, rear drive wheel from a similar spreader but whether they are from the same model is anyone's guess.  It is still solid but a bit of rot and woddworm in it so it has had a good soak of creosote.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Here's a choice and bold piece that I found up in Canada this summer - a header tank from a styled Pacemaker tractor.  Although I have two of these "in situ" so to speak on tractors it is nice to have one in the cast iron memorbilia collection along with my Wallis header tank
