Joe Herr Obituary

The Massey Collectors Association has lost another good member.  Joe Herr, from Chandler, Indiana, lost his battle with cancer after a valiant fight. 
 
Joe was an active member of the Massey Collectors Association (MCA) and the Indiana Massey Collectors Association (IMCA) Chapter.  Joe served as a Director on the IMCA Board for several years, and hosted multiple gatherings at his beautiful farmstead in Chandler, Indiana, just outside of Evansville.
 
Joe also served actively on the Massey Exposition of North America Site Selection Committee, representing the Indiana Chapter.  Joe was a great guy, always had a smile on his face, and always had time to talk about Massey tractors and farming.  He will be greatly missed.

Joseph H. Herr, 75, of Chandler, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Deaconess Gateway Heart Hospital. He was born July 26, 1948 in Evansville, to the late Virginia (Hirsch) and Joseph S. Herr.
 
Joe was a lifelong farmer. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Joe worked at the Amax Coal Ayrshire Mine for 22 years as a supervisor master mechanic. He was a collector of antique tractors and a member of the Indiana Massey Collectors Association. Joe was a volunteer fireman in Ohio Township for several years. Joe was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
 
Joe is survived by his wife, Martha; son, Brian (Kristy) Herr; daughter, Andrea (Robert) Gunter; grandchildren, Jerett, Josey, Jenna and Jaclyn Herr, Katelyn and Lindsey Gunter; siblings, Gloria (Paul) Tieman, Jim (Janice) Herr, Jane (John) Luigs and Jerry (Lynn) Herr.
 
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
 
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville with a Memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Rd., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Bernie Etienne officiating.
 
Burial will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Elberfeld, Indiana where the Retired Veteran's Memorial Club will conduct graveside services.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 809 N. Lafayette Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711.
