When designing the GP many man hours went into it and alot of money was spent to come up with the perfect Tractor, but they chinzed on the Serial tags. I believe the first seven hundered GPs that were made got leftover serial tags from the Massey Harris 20-30 that is the reason for the bottom of the tag being cut off.

I have seen this on many early GPs I would like to track down when the last Massey Harris 20-30 tag was used and the first real GP tag was produced with the width stamped on the tag.
