RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

Welcome aboard Craig!
I'm glad you are enjoying this! I have had alot of feedback on these posts. I have been digging through over 40,000+ photos. Digging for good pictures and trying to get them in order. Going googly eyed and bugs me when I remember seeing a certain picture and can't remember where I put it. There are so many people I would like to talk about on here as there are so many who should be recognized for all the Massey memories they created over the past 25 years.
Dennis Brown "Challenger Man" of Sumner, Iowa has been around since I can remember and has helped create alot of memories with the love of the early U frames. Dennis is a master at taking an old hulk and turning it into a shinny new tractor in record time. The first picture is of a MH 44 Orchard diesel I sold him in a sad state of it's life. In record time he pieced it back together and had it at the show in Indiana. I'm sure I have alot more pictures of Dennis but here is all I have at this time. If you have been following this thread you may have noticed some have had pictures added to them since I first posted them. I have been adding pictures to past posts as I trip across a picture that I think is cool.

RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

Joe and Craig,

Thank you both for your kind words to self and Malcolm.  To put it simply - we try to do our best!!!  We are most anxious to promote the whole breadth and diversity of Massey history.  Massey Heritage is not just tractors as many think and do.  Tractors are only a minor part of the whole Massey Heritage most of which is unfortunately ignored.

As an example of the diversity of Massey heritage and collecting here is a shot of some cast M-H parts which I am assembling.  People might think I have gone loony but AGCO don't stiock them!!

RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

John:
I could not agree more. My fascination with Massey is the extensive history and product variety. As you and Malcolm well know, when visiting me you do not see a large lineup of tractors. Of course there are a few, but all of the other equipment - harvesting, planting, tillage, plows of all types, gas engines, cream separators, stoves, freezers, bicycles, buzz saws, wagons, etc. tell the real story of this great company. And, for those of us here in Canada the Massey historical locations - Massey Hall, the Massey Mausoleum, the Massey Mansion, Massey-Harris Park, etc.also tell a story about the family and their contributions to the growth and economic development of Canada.

RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

Alot of very awesome Massey memories in the past 25 years have been triggered by the Pace family. They have hosted the Massey Days numerous times over the years. I believe this is where I finally got to meet Malcolm. I knew of him earlier and talked with him at the 1997 show but I believe it wasn't until the Pace's layed-back, down home, country living environment show that I really got to know him. If you have ever met Tim you can't help but agree the party dosen't start until he shows up. Never a dull moment when he is there. Tim was the first true Wallis man I ever met. I knew a little about Wallis tractors because my brother had one since I was about 15 years old. I was tinkering with it back then and got it running and would drive it around the yard. This is the very same tractor you will see a picture of Sonny driving in the parade in Waukee, Iowa. If you ever got the chance to meet Tim's mom Barb you would see where he got his quick thinking response from. Barb was one of the few people i've ever met that could out witt Tim. Thanks for all the great memories.

RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

When it comes to inspiration on working with the MH GPs one name comes to mind Rodger Brough. Rodger has been a great friend for many years and has made it to numerous shows. You will tipycally not see him without Francis Baker close by. Rodger has been talking GPs with me for years and has helped me out with a clutch ring coupler when fixing my dads GP years back. Lately I got a rare set of golf course wheels from him for an Industrial GP that I got out of Arizona. When we went to the 175th Massey Anniversary at Friends of Massey show this year Rodger set us up with tickets for the steam train ride. This was a wonderful expierence riding this train as it went through Amish farms watching as they were working in the fields. Very secnic area riding through the tobacco and sunflower fields. Also near Rodgers house are the numerous apple orchards. Very beautieful area with the ripe apples waiting to be picked. Rodger is one of the best for giving the next generation a chance at the love with playing with Masseys. Rodger is truely one of them "Nicest" people that Masseys has ever collected.

RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

A man who has been around the Massey circle as long as I can remember is Mike Popp. I remember reading his name in the early Wild Harvest news letters long before I actually met him. He has been selling tractors and parts as long as I can remember. Mike always has the really nice cool collectables. I believe Mike and his wife Jean really complement each other in a great way. These two really seem to enjoy going to and participating in all the massey events. I believe the only thing Mike might be afraid of is someone dropping off a donkey at his place. Inside joke perhaps. Thanks Mike and Jean for everything you do for the Massey community.

RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

One of the very early pioneers of the Massey collecting movement was Harry Bowen. When I think of Harry I always think of the M-H 201,202,and 203 as I think these three were the pride of his collection. Harry is one of the coolest guys you will ever meet. He never gets stumped for a comeback with words. For many years he put on a show at his convenience store. Never a dull moment when Harry is involved.

RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

Two people that played a huge part in the early days of Friends of Massey are Terry & Sandy Kessel. They did a great job on their newsletter.  Also, these two have been there for all the MCA members to find that part they are looking for on their Massey projects. If they don't have the part your looking for they are more than willing to help you in the right direction to find what you need.  Always a great time to visit with them at the many shows they have attended.

RE:1997-150th to 2022-175th Massey Harris Anniversary Memories and the Collectors we have met.

Malcolm,
This is such a wonderful thread you started here. There are so many people that deserve to be talked about on here for doing their part in making "Massey Memories" in the last 25 years than you can shake a stick at. Of the 850+ people in this organization I haven't scratched the surface in meeting them all yet. I can only imagine all the new friendships yet to be made in the next 25 years. I would like to thank all the people from the last 25 years for all the good memories. I would like to thank all the people in advance for all the memories yet to come.
Here is alot of pictures you may enjoy. Many people you may know, some you may not yet. Some pictures may spark your memory because you were there. Some you will wonder where is this? If you have any pictures to add to this thread it would be great to see them on here as there is still time.
Enjoy the pictures!
